Marco Rubio says the United States remains willing to negotiate with Iran as oil prices continue their upward trend
International
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio indicated that Washington remains willing to negotiate a solution to the crisis with Iran, although he expressed doubts about Tehran's seriousness regarding the talks. His remarks came during a meeting of Southeast Asian foreign ministers, a day after three tankers carrying Saudi crude oil to Asia reversed course in the Red Sea following threats from the Houthis, who announced a naval blockade of Saudi Arabia. Against this backdrop, with tensions escalating to two of the world's major energy transit points and reduced shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, oil prices continued their upward trend, with WTI rising above $86 per barrel and Brent above $93 per barrel.
As for the main US stock indices, the day closed with widespread gains. The S&P 500 rose 0.9%, the Nasdaq gained 1.3%, and the Dow Jones advanced 0.7%. Thus, so far this year, the three indices have accumulated gains of 9.7%, 11.2%, and 8.7%, respectively.
Regarding US Treasury bond yields, increases were observed across the curve. The 1-year bond moved from 4.02% to 4.07%, the 3-year bond advanced from 4.25% to 4.30%, and the 10-year bond rose from 4.59% to 4.63%.
