Major U.S. stock indices ended Wednesday with gains. Notably, the Dow Jones rose by 3.0%, while the Nasdaq climbed 1.4% and the S&P 500 increased by 1.6%. For the year to date, these indices have posted gains of 11%, 10.7%, and 12.3%, respectively.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Treasury yield curve shifted downward during yesterday’s trading session. The yield on the 1-year note moved from 4.39% to 4.38%, the 3-year note fell from 4.70% to 4.63%, and the 10-year note declined from 4.96% to 4.89%.

In the United States, the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) Services Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) came in at 54.5 points for October—below the 54.8 points projected by the analyst consensus. Similarly, the S&P Global reading for the sector stood at 56.1 points, which was lower than both expectations and the figure recorded in September. It is worth noting that the threshold between expansion and contraction is 50 points; therefore, the October readings indicate that activity in the sector expanded at a slightly slower pace than in the previous month.

Regarding monetary policy, the Bank of England (BOE) is set to announce its interest rate decision, with expectations pointing to a rise to 4.00% from the previous 3.75%. Concurrently, the Bank of Mexico (Banxico) will also announce its decision, with the cost of borrowing widely expected to remain unchanged at 6.50% annually.
