Major U.S. stock indices rise again midweek

Yesterday, Wednesday, the major U.S. stock indices posted another solid gain. The S&P 500 rose +1.0% during the session, while the Nasdaq led the gains with a +1.6% increase. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones also gained ground, rising +0.7%. Thus, so far this year, the indices have accumulated gains of +4.2%, +6.0%, and +3.0%, respectively.
Meanwhile, U.S. Treasury bond yields remained largely unchanged. The 1-year bond yield barely rose from 3.67% to 3.68%. For the 3-year bond, the yield moved from 3.79% to 3.82%, and for the 10-year bond, the yield moved from 4.29% to 4.30%.
Finally, yesterday Tesla, Lam Research, Philip Morris, IBM, Texas Instruments, Boeing, and AT&T reported their results for the first quarter of 2026, with all companies posting both revenue and earnings that exceeded analysts’ consensus estimates. Today, Intel, KLA Corporation, American Express, Thermo Fisher Scientific, NextEra Energy, and Blackstone, among other companies, will report their results.
