Stock indices fell again on Tuesday, with the Nasdaq dropping 2.2%

The major U.S. stock indices traded lower yesterday. The S&P 500 fell -1.4%, the Nasdaq dropped -2.2%, and the Dow Jones posted a slight decline of -0.1%. With these results, the indices are up +7.6%, +10.1%, and +7.5%, respectively, year-to-date.
In the fixed-income market, the yield curve for U.S. Treasury bonds flattened slightly yesterday. The 1-year Treasury note stood at 3.99%, down from the previous 4.02%, while the 3-year Treasury note moved from 4.25% to 4.22%. Meanwhile, the yield on the 10-year bond narrowed from 4.51% to 4.50%.
Finally, the preliminary Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) figures for June in the United States, compiled by S&P Global, were released yesterday. This indicator is interpreted based on a threshold of 50 points: readings above this level reflect expansion in activity, while readings below indicate contraction. The Services PMI stood at 51.3 points, above the consensus estimate of 51.1 and the 50.7 recorded in May. Meanwhile, the Manufacturing PMI reached 55.7 points, exceeding both the forecast of 54.6 and the previous reading of 55.1.
