Yields on the US Treasury curve retreated slightly yesterday, following Monday's gains

The US Treasury yield curve eased slightly yesterday. The 10-year Treasury note fell to 4.71% from the previous 4.72%, while the 3-year note closed at 4.25%, with no significant change from the previous close. The 1-year note remained virtually unchanged at 3.97%.

Meanwhile, the main US stock indexes declined yesterday. The S&P 500 fell 0.7%, the Nasdaq lost 1.3%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.2%. Year-to-date, the indexes have accumulated gains of 12.4%, 13.1%, and 11.0%, respectively.

Commodities traded mixed during the day. The price of WTI crude rose 0.7%, closing at $85.10 per barrel, while Brent crude gained 0.2% to $91.08. Gold, meanwhile, fell 1.8% to close at $4,337.17 per ounce, while soybeans declined 0.1% to $440.60 per ton.

On the macroeconomic front, Chile released its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the second quarter of the year yesterday. Quarter-on-quarter, GDP remained unchanged, below the 0.3% growth expected by analysts and the 0.3% decline recorded in the previous quarter. Year-on-year, the Chilean economy contracted by 0.2%, also below the projected 0.2% growth, although this represented an improvement compared to the 0.5% contraction in the previous period.

In the United States, the Industrial Production figures for July were released. On a monthly basis, the indicator advanced 0.2%, slightly below the expected 0.3% and the 0.3% recorded in June. Year-on-year, Industrial Production stood at 1.1%, down from 1.3% the previous month.
