Stock indexes advanced yesterday, with the S&P 500 gaining +1.5% on the day

The main US stock indexes advanced again on Wednesday. The S&P 500 rose 1.5%, while the Nasdaq gained 2.0%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 1.2%. So far in 2026, the indexes have accumulated gains of 7.6%, 11.2%, and 3.8%, respectively.
Meanwhile, US Treasury yields compressed yesterday. The 1-year Treasury note closed at 3.71%, down from 3.75% on Tuesday, while the 3-year yield fell from 3.97% to 3.89%. The 10-year Treasury note closed at 4.35%, down from 4.42% previously.
Regarding company results, yesterday Arm, Walt Disney, Uber Technologies, and CVS Health, among others, presented their Q1 2026 results. Both revenue and earnings per share generally surprised positively, except for Uber's revenue, which fell slightly short of analysts' consensus projections. Today, McDonald's, Gilead Sciences, Howmet Aerospace, and MercadoLibre, among other companies, will report.
Finally, regarding commodities, most declined yesterday. The exception was gold, which rose 2.9% and closed at $4,690 per ounce. Meanwhile, oil fell 6.1% for WTI crude and 7.2% for Brent crude, closing at $96.1 and $102 per barrel, respectively. Finally, soybeans also lost ground yesterday, falling 1.5% in Chicago, and closing at USD 432.9 per ton.
