Today, the official US employment data will be released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). For April, analysts estimate that 65,000 jobs were created, while the unemployment rate is expected to remain unchanged at 4.3% compared to the previous month.

Major stock indexes declined on Thursday. The S&P 500 fell 0.4%, the Nasdaq slipped 0.1%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.6%. Year-to-date, the indexes have risen 7.2%, 11.0%, and 3.2%, respectively.

Regarding first-quarter 2026 results, McDonald’s, Gilead Sciences, Howmet Aerospace, MercadoLibre, and Airbnb, among other companies, reported yesterday. In terms of revenue, all companies posted figures better than the consensus analysts' projections, while in terms of earnings per share (EPS), MercadoLibre and Airbnb fell short of consensus, while the others also surprised on the upside.

Finally, it's worth noting that yesterday the Bank of Mexico published its decision regarding the benchmark interest rate, which remained unchanged at 4.5%. Regarding US Treasury bond yields, rates widened slightly yesterday. The 1-year bond closed at 3.75%, up from 3.71% previously, and the 3-year bond closed at 3.93%, also exceeding the previous 3.89%. Meanwhile, the 10-year bond closed with a yield of 4.38%, compared to 4.35% on Wednesday.
