In Brazil, the Bovespa stock index climbed 7.7% during the trading session following Flávio Bolsonaro's victory over Lula da Silva in the presidential election—the final outcome of which will be decided in late October. Regarding currency markets, this optimism was reflected in the currency's appreciation, with a 4.1% drop in the exchange rate in a single day, bringing it to 5 reais per dollar.
Major U.S. stock indices ended the week's first trading session in positive territory. The Nasdaq rose 1.1%, the S&P 500 gained 0.7%, and the Dow Jones advanced 0.2%. With these results, their year-to-date gains stand at 18.2%, 13.6%, and 6.7%, respectively.
U.S. Treasury yields showed mixed performance yesterday. The 1-year bond closed at 4.44% (down from 4.45%), and the 3-year bond remained at 4.95%, while the 10-year bond yield rose to 5.31% from Friday's 5.27%.
In the Eurozone, wholesale inflation accelerated in August compared to July, recording a monthly increase of 1.9%. The year-over-year figure reached 8.2%, the highest level since February 2023. Against this backdrop, the euro fell 0.3% during yesterday's session to 1.12 dollars per euro.
