Preliminary inflation figures for June in the Eurozone showed a year-on-year change of +2.8%

This morning, the preliminary Consumer Price Index (CPI) data for the Eurozone for June was released, showing a year-on-year increase of 2.8%, below the 3.0% expected by analysts and the 3.2% recorded in May. The core CPI, which excludes food and energy, came in at 2.4% year-on-year, also below the 2.5% forecast and the previous 2.6%. On a monthly basis, the overall index fell 0.1%, compared to 0.1% in May, while the core index rose 0.2%, below the previous 0.3%.

Meanwhile, the main US stock indices advanced yesterday in a day of widespread gains. The S&P 500 rose 0.8%, while the Nasdaq led the gains with a 1.5% increase, and the Dow Jones gained 0.3%. This brings the year-to-date gains for the indexes to 9.6%, 12.8%, and 8.9%, respectively.

Regarding US Treasury yields, the curve broadened across the board yesterday. Specifically, the 1-year Treasury yield moved from 3.95% to 3.98%, while the 3-year yield settled at 4.17%, up from the previous 4.11%. Finally, the 10-year yield climbed from 4.37% to 4.45%.

Lastly, commodity markets showed mixed performance yesterday. Gold fell 0.1% to close at $4,013.1 per ounce, while soybeans rose 0.8% to $410.6 per ton. Meanwhile, oil prices declined: WTI fell 0.9% to $70.1 per barrel, and Brent crude dropped 0.3% to $72.9 per barrel.
