Yesterday, the JOLTS employment survey for April was released in the United States. The data showed 7.618 million job openings for the month, exceeding the 6.866 million projected by analysts, a positive surprise. The official May employment data will be released this Friday.
In this context, the main US stock indices closed with slight variations yesterday. The S&P 500 rose 0.1%, while the Nasdaq closed flat, and the Dow Jones advanced 0.4%. Year-to-date, the indices have accumulated gains of 11.2%, 16.6%, and 6.8%, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Treasury yield curve also remained largely unchanged. The 1-year bond closed with a yield of 3.79%, unchanged from Monday, while the 3-year bond moved from 4.08% to 4.09%. The 10-year bond moved from 4.45% to 4.44% at the close of trading.
