Israel and Lebanon agreed to a US-mediated ceasefire

With US mediation, Israel and Lebanon announced a ceasefire in recent hours. This development fulfills a key condition set by Iran for negotiating a broader peace agreement with Washington, bringing the possibility of a bilateral understanding closer. Amid the prospect of de-escalation, Brent crude oil fell below $95 a barrel.

Yesterday, the main US stock indices declined. The S&P 500 dropped 0.7%, while the Nasdaq fell 0.9%, and the Dow Jones suffered the biggest losses, declining 1.2%. Year-to-date, the indices have accumulated gains of 10.3%, 15.5%, and 5.5%, respectively.

Finally, the US Treasury yield curve broadened during trading. The 1-year bond closed with a yield of 3.81%, up from Tuesday's 3.79%, while the 3-year bond moved from 4.09% to 4.13%. On the long end, the 10-year bond closed with a yield of 4.49%, also higher than the previous 4.44%.
